Severe Psoriasis Increases Heart Disease Risk
Watch out for signs of cardiovascular disease if you have severe psoriasis. Penn Medicine researchers warned that people with severe psoriasis were nearly 60 percent more likely to die from heart-related causes and stroke than those without psoriasis. The risk of cardiovascular disease was highest in younger people, suggesting that cardiovascular disease may speed up in younger people with severe psoriasis, according to the study, published in the European Heart Journal. If you have severe psoriasis, talk to your doctor and get other heart disease risk factors – high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and excess weight – under control.
